Thong Run FAQs

Q The first question everyone asks is why the Thong Run?

A You will have to ask Allan, it's all his fault!

Q Do I need to be a member of your club to attend?

A No, members of other Mini clubs and individuals are welcome.

Q Do I need to be driving a Clubman Estate to join in the Thong Run?

A No, all drivers of Minis are welcome.

Q How much does it cost to attend?

A Prices to be confirmed, but very reasonable for a top weekend of Mini fun.

Q Where are the proceeds from the event going?

A The proceeds will be shared equally between The National Autistic Society and Macmillan Cancer Relief.

Q What attractions will there be?

A There will be competitions, such as raffles and an auction, along with a disco on Saturday night, and an indoor bar.   For your Mini, there will be a glow show and a prize for our favourite car(s) in attendance, and of course the run itself on the Sunday. 

Q Can I bring my own drink to the Thong Run?

A You can, but as the Rugby Club has a bar, they have requested that you consume drink purchased off site by your tents.  The bar operates at discounted prices, so you won't be disappointed! Also, please request a plastic glass at the bar if you intend to drink outside.

Q Can I use the BBQ?

A Of course! Bring what you want to cook, and your bread etc.  The CER will provide utensils for meat and vegetarian cooking. When you are ready to eat, come over and cook!

Please note that BBQs are not allowed in the camping area due to potential damage to the rugby pitch!

Q What facilities are there for campers?

A There are indoor and outdoor toilets, as well as showers.  The showers are those typical of a rugby club - they are communal so if you are shy bring your swimming costume!

Q Are dogs allowed at the Thong Run?

A Kenilworth Rugby Club do have a no dogs rule, though they have kindly relaxed this for the Thong Run.  However, dogs MUST be kept on a lead, and under your control at ALL times.  You are also asked to clean up after your dog.  We thank you in advance for your co-operation.

Q Do I have to pre-book?

A It helps us if you book in advance, but it is not necessary.  You can turn up on the day.

Q What are the benefits of pre-booking?

A You can pre-order your TR08 T-shirt at a discounted price.

Q Can I park my Mini next to my tent?

A As the pitch needs to be unspoilt for next season's games, you will be unable to park right next to your tent.  However there are two parking areas situated very near, within the club grounds
